What We Do

We empower people with disabilities to improve their lives.  We offer choices in a friendly and welcoming setting whether you are looking to learn new skills, join a peer support group, get help transitioning into living on your own or find other community-based services.

 How We Help

We provide free individualized services for people with disabilities:

  • Empowering one-to-one skills training: Our staff helps you identify everyday challenges and solutions so you can live independently and meet your life goals.

  • Peer-to-peer support groups: Run by people with disabilities, our peer groups offer a safe place to share your experience and gain resources and support from other people with disabilities.

  • Resources and referrals: Navigating the world of disability and community-based services can be confusing and overwhelming. We're here to help.

We are a driving force for changing the system:

  • Powerful policy and programs advocacy: We challenge ableism and stereotypes, protect the rights of disabled people and champion reforms.

  • Expert disability consulting for businesses: Accessibility is good for your business. We provide consulting services for businesses, nonprofits and municipalities that want to make King County more accessible and inclusive.

Our Programs

CHOICES

Get connected with the resources and tools you need to accomplish your goals. We provide individualized services, help you find and use resources, make referrals to other services and organizations and offer a setting with peer support. We can support you in navigating confusing systems such as housing, transportation, technology, education, employment and more. Ages 14+. This program receives funding from the King County Veterans, Seniors and Human Services Levy.

Transitions

We can help you make the transition to living on your own. We provide guidance and support as you develop skills like personal hygiene, budgeting, cooking and accessing community services. We will partner you with an Independent Living Specialist to develop your own personal goals and action steps to reach those goals.

Independent Living Skills Training

We can help you develop the skills you need to live independently. For example, personal hygiene, budgeting, cooking and nutrition, community access and much more. Your Independent Living Specialist will work with you one-to-one to meet your goals or complete an action step.

Healthy Community Living Workshops

Do you have goals you want to reach and would like a little more support to meet them? We can help you achieve your goals, solve problems, prepare for change and gain more confidence. Our ongoing, interactive workshops are designed to help you choose and work on a personal, meaningful goal together with peers in a safe and welcoming setting. Ages 14+.

Peer Support & Mentoring

Run by people with disabilities, our peer support programs offer a safe place to share your experience and gain resources and support from other people with disabilities. You will connect with other people with disabilities to share resources and information, support and empower one another and work toward similar goals.
