Meet Terry

We are thrilled to welcome Terry Jones to our staff team as an Independent Living Specialist!

Terry (he/him) has a long history of community service involving support and assistance for people facing challenges in their everyday lives. He previously worked as a Peer Support Specialist for Seattle Counseling Service where he provided individuals who have HIV or are at risk of HIV with resources for medical and housing issues.

Terry loves to be out and about connecting with other people, and he’s a great listener and communicator. “I try to really get engaged,” Terry says. He also speaks conversational Spanish and a little Japanese.

If you visit our office, you might get to see his five-year-old chihuahua, Remy, who sometimes joins him for the day. In addition to taking Remy for walks, Terry’s other passion is true-crime documentaries.

Terry has faced his own challenges with drug abuse and depression and credits organizations like Disability Empowerment Center for his own recovery. Terry offers an empathetic and compassionate approach to helping community members live their most productive and fulfilling lives.

“Even if you can’t fulfill a person’s immediate needs, if you make them feel comfortable and listen to them, you can build a relationship,” Terry says. “If they feel comfortable and they trust you, they’re more likely to seek help.”
